We’ve all been through crisis in our life, but for a style publisher there’s nothing worse than being notified by a reader that your site is not working. Or being attacked by haters and trolls on your social media profiles. Or having your site hacked. When this happens, it’s easy to find yourself on the edge of a nervous breakdown and risk a panic attack. Stress no further, breath in and find out everything you need to know on how to manage a crisis!

The first and probably most important thing to do is to reach out to experts. Whether he/she’s a fellow blogger friend or an outside expert, the first step is to contact someone who can both technically and morally advise you with your crisis, just like Ella Gregory from Coco’s Tea Party did! An outside person can both help you calm down and control the panic, and work with you towards a concrete solution at the same time. Teamwork can truly make wonders!

No matter what kind of problem you are experiencing, always make sure to let your readers know about it. Let’s say your site is down and you’ve not been able to post fresh content for the past four days, you don’t really want to leave your audience wondering why so with no explanation, nor do you want to lose some of your readers!

Make sure to reach out to them, either via social media or through your mailing list, and be honest about the situation: they will understand and appreciate you finding time to notify them.

You know what they say: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! Find something to learn even from the smallest crisis or negative experience and utilize it to your benefit. Share with your readers the precious knowledge you gained from these situations: it will both help you to calm down and realize that the worst is over, and you can also use it as a way to connect with your audience.

There are several types of crisis a blogger can undergo, and they’re not all necessarily technical-related. As an influential style publisher you are likely to have a considerable amount of readers and followers who populate your social media profiles to find out more about your life. But not everyone is nice. There are many haters and trolls out there trying to undermine your hard work and self esteem. This is why the only way to defeat the haters is by developing a thick skin and well just… shrug your shoulders! Don’t get involved into arguments but instead show these people your kindness: there’s no better reply.

It’s very easy to get dragged down by a crisis, especially if you see slow progresses. That’s why you have to remember to keep a positive attitude and surround yourself with people who can help take your mind off things and find humour in any situation. A positive attitude always attracts positive vibes! Laughing might not be the solution to all your problems but it can most certainly help you to see the bright side and not get dragged down!
